As the world celebrates International Volunteer Day, Agena Group takes pride in spotlighting its unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship, community impact, and global solidarity. More than a business agenda, this commitment is deeply ingrained in Agena’s DNA, aligning with the values championed by the United Nations and resonating across the diverse communities it touches.
Eco-Friendly Moorings:
Earlier in the year we told you about our collaboration with The Seahorse Trust. Agena Group has been at the forefront of developing the tech and helping to implement eco-friendly moorings at Studland Bay, echoing the United Nations’ call for collective action. Traditional mooring methods, detrimental to seabeds, have been replaced with innovative eco-moorings utilising lightweight ropes and helix anchors. Currently operational in Dorset, these sustainable practices are envisioned to spread across the UK, exemplifying Agena’s commitment to global environmental causes.
Community Engagement:
Agena Group’s presence in communities across the UK is not just a footprint; it’s a commitment to positive contributions. The company is deeply passionate about fostering community well-being, a sentiment that echoes the United Nations’ acknowledgment of volunteers as vital contributors to peace and development. Agena encourages and empowers its employees to engage in initiatives close to their hearts, fostering a unique work culture through dedicated committees – the Employee Engagement and Environmental Committees.
Empowering Employees:
In alignment with the International Volunteer Day theme, “If everyone did,” Agena actively supports employee-led initiatives. Every team member is gifted two Volunteering Days in addition to their annual leave, providing a meaningful opportunity to contribute to various causes. This initiative is not just about fostering a sense of community within Agena but reflects the company’s dedication to creating a positive global impact.
Nathan Hughes, a Senior Sales Account Executive at Agena, volunteered his time helping at one of his client’s run community homes, where he painted benches and played games with the residents. “The work that day was very rewarding and I got to finally provide smiles, rather than PCNs – it’s a good change!”, concludes Nathan.
UN-Inspired Global Impact:
The commitment to positive change extends to the whole business. Sixteen team members from six different departments joined Portland Marina during Portland Week in August for a beach clean—an initiative that is turning into a tradition for the team. This local effort aligns with the United Nations’ emphasis on volunteers being at the forefront during crises and emergencies, showcasing Agena’s dedication to addressing global challenges at the grassroots level.
“Within Agena Group, our commitment to environmental stewardship and community impact is not just a corporate responsibility—it’s a shared passion that echoes in every corner of our diverse team and affects the communities we live within. As we celebrate International Volunteer Day, we recognise the collective power of our actions, resonating with the United Nations’ call for global solidarity. Our volunteering journey is not just about creating eco-friendly moorings, supporting local communities or empowering our employees—it’s about contributing to a positive global narrative, one rooted in compassion, innovation, and a shared commitment to building a sustainable future for all, we can all make difference and strive to do more.” – Paul Dawson, CEO, Agena Group
As Agena Group commemorates International Volunteer Day, this narrative encapsulates a holistic journey—a journey that embodies the United Nations’ vision for collective action and global citizenship. Agena’s commitment goes beyond mere environmental sustainability; it is a reflection of the company’s dedication to creating a more interconnected, compassionate, and sustainable world—a commitment shared by volunteers around the globe and celebrated on this important day.
