Making a Difference: Volunteering at Chasewater Country Park
Recently, our team had the pleasure of volunteering for Staffordshire County Council at the beautiful Chasewater Country Park in Staffordshire. Organised by Stuart McLaren, the day saw staff from our Atria office coming together, including Alex Cooke, Joshua Davies, Matt Skelton, Andrzej Paszek, Laura Jasmin, Jack Liddle, David Leek, Zoe Harries, Michal Kager, Guy Simmonds, Luke Welsh, Ed Riley, and Nick Lester.
Our Mission
Our task was scrub maintenance, specifically aimed at protecting the heather habitats that are vital to the park’s ecosystem. These habitats were being threatened by an invasion of ferns, which were shading and overpowering the delicate heather. Armed with gloves and determination, we set out to clear as many ferns as possible.
Impactful Results
The work was intense and at times felt like we were covering the area of 10 football pitches. However, by the end of the day, we had managed to clear what we estimated to be at least a full-sized pitch worth of ferns! Seeing the difference we made was incredibly rewarding and served as a reminder of the impact collective effort can have on our environment.
A Meaningful Experience
Volunteering at Chasewater Country Park was a meaningful experience, combining teamwork with a commitment to environmental preservation. Our efforts contributed to the protection of this beautiful area, ensuring it remains a cherished space for future generations. We left with a sense of accomplishment, knowing our hard work made a positive impact.
